Debutants Dominate State League Match Appointments

Andrew Crosby in action at Woodville Oval

The SANFL take on the WAFL this weekend at Adelaide Oval in the State League Match at Adelaide Oval. We’re please to announce that Field Umpires Jamie Broadbent and Andrew Crosby will represent SA in the Field. Rowan Hundertmark will be the Emergency. Boundary Umpires Sam Royans, Damian Robinson and Brayden Thiel have been appointed to run the lines whilst Rhys Negerman will stand in the goals. Matthew Williams will act as Emergency Goal Umpire.

It will be AFL Rookie Jamie Broadbent’s first State League Match. Jamie has officiated in 41 SANFL League Matches. Jamie was Rookie Listed by the AFL this year following a solid year in 2017 where he made his SANFL League Finals debut. Andrew will also officiate his first State League Match, having umpired 217 SANFL League Matches. Andrew has officiated in 2 SANFL League Grand Final Matches (2014 and 2016) as well as umpiring in the AFLW for the past two seasons. Rowan has umpired 135 SANFL League Matches which includes the 2016 State League Match and 1 SANFL League Grand Final in 2016. Rowan has also been an AFL Rookie Listed Field Umpire.

Sam Royans during the 2017 SANFL Grand Final

Sam Royans will officiate in his first State League Match. Somewhat of a veteran amongst the Boundary Umpiring ranks, Sam has umpired 163 SANFL League Matches including 3 SANFL League Grand Finals (2014, 2016 and 2017). Brayden Thiel is a promising up and coming Boundary Umpire who we’re confident will get his opportunity at AFL level at some stage. He’ll also officiate in his first State League Match. Brayden has umpired 65 SANFL League Matches including the 2017 SANFL Grand Final. Damian Robinson gets his reward for effort, also officiating in his first State League Match. Damian has umpired 103 SANFL League Games.

Rhys Negerman at Woodville Oval in 2018

Goal Umpire Rhys Negerman will officiate in his first State League Match. He continues to rack up prestigious appointments, having officiated in the 2016 SANFL League Grand Final. Rhys has umpired 83 SANFL League Matches and has also represented SA at the AFL U18s National Championships on two occasions. Matthew Williams has umpired 97 SANFL League Matches and was Emergency Goal Umpire in the 2016 SANFL Grand Final.

Congratulations to all appointed Umpires and good luck on Saturday.
