2019 SANFL Grand Final Umpires Announced

Season 2019 has flashed by. The SANFL League Grand Final takes place this weekend at Adelaide Oval and we’re pleased to announce our team for the day. There is some experience amongst the team as well as a couple of first timers to the final day of the season.

Mitchell Harris in action during the 2019 SANFL Finals Series

Two of the three Field Umpires chosen to control the Grand Final between Port Adelaide and Glenelg have experienced a League Grand Final before. Andrew Crosby will officiate his 3rd (2014, 2016) whilst Mitchell Harris returns after umpiring his first in 2018. Rising star Tom Bryce will officiate in his 1st SANFL League Grand Final, having umpired just 37 League Matches. Tom officiated in the 2018 SANFL Reserves Grand Final. Rowan Hundertmark is the Emergency Field Umpire.

Damian Robinson in action during the 2019 SANFL Season

Running the boundary on Sunday are Damian Robinson, Sam Royans^, Brayden Thiel and Gerard Carter. Sam Royans will officiate in his 5th SANFL League Grand Final and Sunday will be his 4th in a row. Damian Robinson goes back to back, having umpired the 2018 decider. Brayden Thiel returns to Grand Final Day, having officiated in the 2017 Grand Final. Gerard Carter will officiate his 1st SANFL League Grand Final.

Rhys Negerman in action during the 2019 SANFL Season

Waving the flags will be experienced pair Mathew Wilson and Rhys Negerman. Braden Ford will have his 1st involvement in a SANFL League Grand Final when he sits as Emergency Goal Umpire on Sunday. Mathew Wilson will umpire his 2nd Grand Final, ending a 9 year drought, thanks mainly to AFL involvement, having previously officiated the 2010 Grand Final. Rhys Negerman will umpire his 3rd Grand Final, following his appearances in 2016 and 2018.

In the Reserves Grand Final on Sunday, Field Umpires Sam Morgan, Aaron Bennett and Mason Beyer will take charge with Harrison Hughes the Emergency Field Umpire. On the boundary will be Taylor Dorsey, William Carter, Ben Williams^ and Corey Sauerwald^. In the Goals are Emilie Hill and Liam McDonald with Tom Fahey as their Emergency Goal Umpire.

Last Sunday saw the U18s SANFL Grand Final take place. Our team for the day in the Field were Daniel Whittlesea, Henry Klemm^, Jackson Nokes. Max Richardson was the Emergency Umpire. The Boundary Umpires were Bradley Applebee^, Anthony DeRuvo^, Liam Draper^ and Jaxon Williams. In the Goals we had Jared Murton and Georgia Henderson. Liam McDonald was the Emergency Goal Umpire.

We’d like to congratulate all our members who will officiate in Grand Finals on Sunday and to those that officiated in the U18s Grand Final on Sunday September 15th.
